Autumn At Walkway Over the Hudson in Poughkeepsie, NY

The weekend of Sandy’s arrival, we had already planned to spend a couple of days in Poughkeepsie to walk across the Walkway Over the Hudson, a steel cantilever pedestrian bridge with access from Poughkeepsie, NY and Highland, NY.  Crossing our fingers that we wouldn’t get stranded out there, we took the Metro North train up on Friday.  The views from the bridge are pretty spectacular and I love that with the Culinary Institute of America so close by, there are some great restaurants in the area.  It’s also close enough for a daytrip from NYC so we’ll be back again, this time hopefully without the added distraction of impending hurricanes.

Theresa - I live 5 miles from the walkway and go there frequently. It’s great to see it through a visitors viewpoint. Gorgeous pictures. Glad you enjoyed your stay & next time definately go to eat. Poughkeepsie has some great restaurants! If you go down to the Mt Carmel section (which is pictured in your first photo), stop by for cannoli.
